How many of us have such disastrous accidents, (most times, willing incidents) that happen during dieting?
Well, it happened to me yesterday.
I think it was around 2 o’ clock in the afternoon. I came home hungry and asked my wife to give me something to eat. I meant I wanted something that I usually eat during dieting: may be an apple, or a salad, or a soup, or at least a glass of milk.
But I never, in my wildest dream, thought that she would bring a plate of hot biriyani and put it in front of me. Mutton biriyani and chicken fry! Fish65 to add to the variety! “Oh my gosh!” my wife became my villain, no, villainess for the day.
Guess what happened? All my resolve dissolved into my watering mouth, literally vaporized with the aroma of that demonic dish … and all I did was to drop my head down and wolf down the biriyani.
In no time, my plate was cleaned by my wiping, and my fingers cleaned by my tongue.
“Second helping?” my villainess asked.
“Yes,” my lips moved on their own accord, and another plate of biriyani went into my belly in record time.
Thankfully, because I had been dieting these forty days or so, my belly expressed its discomfort of taking in a heavy load. Thank my belly! It prevented me from going for another helping, should I say, unhelping?
Well, the long and short of the story is that my diet was broken.
What should I do?
Give up?
Excuse me! Should I give up for one slip? One small slip? Okay, okay, it’s a large slip, but should I give up?
NOOOOOOOOO!
I will not give up.
All I did was to give a sheepish smile during dinner time, and kept myself away from the kitchen and the dining room. Around 9:30 or so, my wife brought me a cup of milk, I drank it, and went to bed.
This morning, I woke up with new resolve. I know that the old one was dead, but I have too many in my kitty. So, new resolve, stronger because it bore the guilt of failing yesterday. …
So I am here. Writing this blog, putting on a face that says, “Of course I am on a diet, unfailingly on a strict diet in my journey towards better health.
Listen to me guys, one slip, two slip, never have you worried. Don’t ever give up, just keep going ahead, forging your path, even after slips, until we reach our destiny of good health.
Happy journey …
